Project Kuhiro: Talent Should Not Depend on Geography
Project Kuhiro supports deserving students from rural Nepal in higher education in Kathmandu, with fees, materials, nutrition and mentorship.

Kuhiro is the Nepali word for mist, the haze that hides what lies ahead. Project Kuhiro, an Ekjut Nepal project, exists to clear it for students whose ambition is real but whose path is uncertain.
The gap
Across rural Nepal, there are young people with ability, ambition and a genuine wish to build a better future. Many want to continue their studies in Kathmandu. What stops them is rarely talent. It is the cost of fees, books, technology, food and living far from home.
Too often, the distance between a student's village and the opportunity they are reaching for decides who gets a chance. Project Kuhiro is built on the belief that a student should be judged by potential, not by where they were born.
What the project does
Started in May 2026, Project Kuhiro works with the Goyal Foundation and the Junior Empowerment Circle to support students from rural Nepal pursuing higher education in Kathmandu. Support can include:
- School and college fees, and scholarships
- Books, study materials and technology
- Nutrition and essential living support
- Mentorship and continuing guidance
Not one-time help
Ekjut's founder Chirag Goyal believes education and food should be basic human rights. The goal of Project Kuhiro is not to hand out a single grant and move on. It is to stay with each student until they reach a stable outcome, whether that is graduating, finding work or standing on their own.
The project also aims to bring in resources and foundation support from Nepal, India and anywhere in the world, so more students can be reached.
