How Ekjut Works: From a Genuine Need to an Accounted Outcome
Ekjut follows seven steps — understand, verify, connect, mobilise, act, account and stay connected — so help reaches genuine needs.

When people give their time or money, they want to know it reached someone who truly needed it. When people ask for help, they want to know someone will follow through. Ekjut is designed around both of those expectations.
Every request, in every Ekjut project, moves through the same seven steps.
- Understand. First we find out what is actually needed. In a crisis it is tempting to arrive with an answer. Experience has shown that the people facing a problem often understand it best, so we listen first.
- Verify. We confirm that the situation and the requirement are genuine. Verification protects the people who contribute and the trust that makes the network work.
- Connect. We match the need with people in the registry who can meet it: a doctor, a driver, a supplier, a mentor or someone who knows the right door to knock on.
- Mobilise. We bring those people, along with foundations and institutions where needed, together around the case.
- Act. The help is delivered: supplies, treatment, school fees, transport or whatever the case requires.
- Account. We document what was contributed and what was done, so contributors can see where their help went.
- Stay connected. Relationships continue after the case closes. A student is supported until they reach a stable outcome, and a volunteer stays in the network for the next need.
Why accountability matters
Many appeals for help in Nepal circulate on social media and are never followed up. Donors rarely learn what happened next. Ekjut aims for the opposite: fewer one-off appeals, more cases taken through to a meaningful result, and a clear record of who helped and how.
The person asking for help is part of the conversation
The request form asks who needs help, what kind of help, what exactly is needed and how urgent it is, from "not urgent" to "emergency". The clearer the need, the faster the right connection can be made.
One process, four projects
The same steps run through all of Ekjut's projects:
- Disaster & Immediate Assistance
- Project Sanjivani for medical and urgent cases
- Project Kuhiro for education
- Project Udyam for youth and entrepreneurship
Your part
If you know of a genuine need, submit it through the request form. If you can contribute, join the registry and tell us what you can offer.
